All inquiries from patients and third-party payors will be responded to in a courteous, timely manner. Billing representatives will process patient accounts to third parties and resolve account to a zero balance.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Receives and verifies documents required for billing and follow-up purposes.

  2. Processes primary, secondary, and tertiary claims according to respective regulations and policies.

  3. Corresponds with third party representatives, as necessary to complete claims processing and/or resolve problem claims.

  4. Responds to patient and third party inquiries via the telephone or written correspondence in a timely manner.

  5. Interfaces with other departments within the hospital, when appropriate, to obtain information necessary to process or resolve claims.

  6. Follows up daily on post-processing activity including, but not limited to, rejected billings, adjustments, re-billing, and unpaid claims.

  7. Maintains accounts receivable detail by use of on-line system documentation.

  8. Informs and/or seeks assistance from the manager with problems or unusual occurrences.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. Knowledge of basic math and business procedures, normally acquired in high school, to analyze bills.

  2. Knowledge of billing procedures.

  3. Ability to organize and plan tasks for timely completion.

  4. Good verbal and written communication skills.

  5. Use of CRT approximately 80-90% of time.

  6. Ability to operate business office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Normal office environment.

  2. Performs data entry with repetitive hand movement, and visual concentration at video display terminal, in order to review and enter data.
