SUMMARY

The Speech Pathologist Assistant provides coordinated speech therapy assistance with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.

  • Administers the speech therapy treatment plan as developed by the Speech Language Pathologist.

  • Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities.

  • Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with the education and competence to care for the patients.

  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills

  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements

  • Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary

  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency

  • Performs other related duties and activities as required.

    Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.

    Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of speech therapy assistant with a Bachelors Degree

  • One year experience as a Speech Therapy Assistant in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.

  • Pediatric and Home Health experience preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Current Texas State License to practice speech therapy

    Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills .

    Other Requirements:

  • Travel as needed

    Physical Requirements:

    Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
