Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the unit’s Director or designee, the Clinical Coordinator assumes responsibility for the direction and coordination of all functions in surgical services, in collaboration with the Director or in the absence of the Director. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit. The Clinical Coordinator also collaborates with the Director regarding budgetary and strategic planning opportunities for improvement. The Clinical Coordinator assists the Director in providing nursing leadership to the unit and overseeing the clinical operations of the unit. The Clinical Coordinator leads the orientation and on-going education for the surgical services department. With respect to performance improvement the Clinical Coordinator: Assists the Quality Management Director in implementation of the hospital-wide Quality/Performance Improvement Program.Reviews medical records according to criteria outcome data identified. Assists the Quality Management Director in identifying and developing organizational improvement opportunities while looking at specific clinical outcomes Participates in education of hospital and Medical Staff in the Performance Improvement Program/Methodology and current Joint Commission/TMF/Federal requirements. Assists as directed in the Computerized Notification Reporting Program. Promotes positive Customer Service with Internal and External Customers. Actively participates or leads Quality/Performance Improvement Teams as needed.

  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONSC urrent RN licensure in Texas or compact state. Required. Current BLS certification. Required Current ACLS certification and PALS certification. Required REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE· Minimum College: Associate Degree in Nursing or BSN. PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES· Minimum of one (1) year of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her unit (experience may be substituted for an area of similar patient types). · Minimum of one (1) year of Charge Nurse experience. · Leadership and management experience is highly desirable. · CNOR certified · Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transfer physician’s orders. · Knowledge of body substance isolation. · Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs. · Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
