Job Summary and Qualifications

  1. Accountable for monitoring hospital wide inpatient telemetry system

  2. Run & post rhythm stripes at designated intervals

  3. Initiate code blues, if appropriate

  4. Interpret rhythms & validate computer readout

  5. Check & verify lead placement on patients

  6. Compare posted strip to previous strip & notify nursing staff of changes

  7. Notify nursing staff of any changes in cardiac rate/rhythm

  8. Recognize & respond to unusual or abnormal patient condition

  9. Records patient condition utilizing computerized documentation systems.

  10. Orients and mentors new staff members.

  11. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

  12. Adheres to Hospital policies and procedures. Supports mission of SRMC.

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE

Required -

  1. ECG monitoring

  2. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

  3. Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision

  4. Ability to remain focused and maintains concentration over extended period of time.

Preferred

  1. Minimum I year of experience as a monitor tech in Hospital setting.

EDUCATION

  1. High School graduate or equivalent

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

  1. BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through the American Heart Association

  2. Within first 60 days of employment: Completion of Basic ECG/Arrhythmia course. Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias. Must pass a Basic Rhythm test.
