Job Description / Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for providing operational support for the HR Compliance department. Serve as team member in originating, implementing and maintaining White Cap compliance programs to ensure consistency and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations and enterprise policies and procedures. Coordinate resources and support compliance audits.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Co-manages various HR Compliance programs to include but not limited to Alert Line, State and Federal legislative requirements, I-9 compliance, Affirmative Action Plans and annual compliance training.

Works with HR Partners to resolve problems that arise due to policy interpretations, procedural issues, job performance concerns, time off matters, harassment concerns, equal employment issues, etc.

Acts as a liaison between all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers. Assist with resolution of associate relations issues.

Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as I-9 system training, refresher training, etc.

Stays abreast of all applicable legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR activities to ensure the enterprise policies, procedures, and reporting activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to employment.

Manages White Cap Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Planning Programs in accordance with regulations, which include plan development, reporting, training and providing full cycle day to day support as well as OFCCP audit support.

Assists in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.

Nature and Scope

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.

  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' experience working with state and federal legal and regulatory agencies. Experience in legislative review, analysis and reporting preferred.

  • Experience with a variety of customers (both internal and external) and contacts of all levels, cultural backgrounds and special needs.

  • Familiarity with employee relations procedures.

  • Prior experience with Workday Learning.

  • Strong MS Excel skills required
