Army National Guard Units SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST in Lakehurst, New Jersey

Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1254000 and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, GS-1601-9, you will: Analyzes and resolves a variety of conventional maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations, production, and practices that impact the overall maintenance program. Establishes methods and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks performed meet or exceed established policies and regulations Establishes and monitors the shop safety and health program Monitors the organization's use of automation to properly account for manpower utilization and materials management Requirements Conditions of Employment Areas of Consideration: CAT 3: All current members of the New Jersey Army National Guard Military Grades: E-5 to E-8 Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. Military Unit -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the following experience(s): Knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings Using specifications and test instruments Making computations, and keeping records Using computer and automation systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months of the following experience(s): Applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facilities, or service operations Designing projects or planning assignments Using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc. Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfRegistration.aspx).
