JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The primary purpose of the athletic training position is to lead day-to-day preventative, on-going, and rehabilitative medical care for student - athletes at Penn State Greater Allegheny. This role also acts as a liaison between external health care providers, doctors, etc. This role is the lead for departmental compliance for AED/CPR training and organization.

This role also functions as administrative support for the Director of Athletics assisting with game day operations, preparation, and other administrative compliance functions.

  • Lead a comprehensive sports medicine initiative by coordinating internal and external athletic training services including but not limited to: injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to student-athletes by working with community partners, EMS, doctors, and health care providers.

  • Ensure compliance regarding individual and team participants to existing University and external regulatory agency safety policies and procedures.

  • Assist in maintaining and facilitating all aspects of health care including, but not limited to: physician referrals; medical appointments; physicals, medical insurance, etc.

  • Maintain proper medical records (incident or injury reports) in accordance with all governing guidelines, (e.g. HIPPA); communicate health information (including participation status) with student-athletes, coaches, physicians, etc.

  • Assist in the implementation of a comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for athletic teams.

  • Serve as an educational resource for matters related to nutrition, First Aid/CPR/AED.

  • Develop and activate Emergency Action Plan as appropriate.

  • Secure officials, medical staff, and workers for all athletic and events. Secure and schedule all maintenance requests prior to events in 25 Live.

  • Assist Director of Athletics in additional event planning for outside groups, facility usage, and fundraising opportunities.

  • Work with game day manager, athletic directors, officials, assignors, maintenance to ensure that events are properly covered in order to remain compliant to the PSUAC and USCAA rules and regulations. Manage game day activities when needed and in manager's absence. Oversee the scoring and stats during events and manage the event process.

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and engage with student workers. Address their everyday questions, issues, and concerns.

  • Train and evaluate work study students. Create a learning atmosphere for the work study students.

  • All other duties as assigned not limited to the following:

  • Engage in and represent department in committees that benefit the campus.

This position requires a Master's degree and 3 years of experience o r an equivalent combination of education and experience

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. A MVR will also be required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
