Essential Functions

Receives and processes laboratory specimens.

Manage the receipt, storage and disposal of specimens including:

• Receiving and accessioning of pathology specimens.

• Enter orders in LIS with utmost accuracy.

• Accurately match and label specimen container with requisition for surgical number.

Technical Duties

• Scan/and or data entry of specimen and patient information

• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform instrument maintenance

• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues

• Replenish bench supplies as needed

• Maintain a clean work environment

• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested

Additional duties & Responsibilities

• Perform assigned duties accurately, efficiently and effectively in a timely manner. Actively seek out other assignments when daily tasks are completed.

• Respond to telephone calls for specimen collection info, etc.

• Distribute supplies

• Contact physician’s offices or nursing staff for additional info concerning incomplete requisitions.

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Minimum Experience:

• 3 years of clinical experience preferred
