Eligible for a $5,000.00 (less taxes) sign on bonus, paid out in installments with a work commitment.

Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide emergent care and transportation for patients, in a professional and competent manner. This position requires flexibility, regular attendance, the understanding that position responsibilities may vary at times, the need to be receptive to additional responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned by the Supervisor and the knowledge that processes are subject to change per organizational growth.

Responsibilities:

• Initial assessment and ongoing evaluation • Records accurate and complete documentation • Relays proper and adequate information to Emergency Department. • Maintains the upkeep of the Ambulances • Rotating assignment of scheduling • May assist with providing hospital-wide security services when not performing EMS functions • Maintains ability to not suffer from habitual intemperance in the use of narcotics, hypnotics, alcohol or other substances that might result in the employee performance that endangers others • Follows appropriate EMS protocol treatments • Appropriate use of IV’s and medications • Intubation • Defibrillation • Chest decompressions • Needle/surgical cric • Inter-facility transfer-PIFT • Interviews patients, family and bystanders, efficiently • Interprets written, oral and diagnostic form instructions • Reads and comprehends manuals, road maps, discern street signs and address numbers; ability to calculate weight and volume ratios • Communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, health professionals and others • Demonstrates competency in accessing a patient, handling emergencies utilizing Basic Life Support equipment and procedures; have the ability to perform CPR, control of hemorrhage, non-invasive shock treatment, fracture and spinal stabilization, manage environmental emergencies, emergency childbirth, operation of semi-automatic defibrillator, delivery of oxygen • Communicates effectively with others via radio and telephone equipment • Demonstrates ability to work in environmental conditions that are extreme • Demonstrates ability to work in confined spaces • Demonstrates ability to safely operate company vehicle(s) • Cooperates and complies with established EMS’ Quality Assurance process and compliant with other essential documents • Offers flexibility in scheduling matters; willing to work late, arrive early, augments staffing when requested (call-ins) and regularly completes pager shift duty • Maintains professional conduct, appearance, behavior, sense of responsibility, pride in the company, and willingness to mentor others; willingness to progress professionally into specialty team assignments • Adheres to standard precautions and other personal protective equipment (PPE), due to the presence of body fluids and chemicals • Delivers patient care, maintains facilities / equipment and inventory control, in a motivated manner • Participates in company activities, staff meetings, committees and public relations details • Obtain and maintain certification for security related responsibilities • Maintains a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. • Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate. • Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
